Free cake tutorial: What to do with left over gelatine

This is a fantastic new free tutorial from Pretty Witty Academy. It shows you how to use up any left over gelatine! Gelatine is being used more and more in cake decorating, we even have a full length tutorial over at the Pretty Witty Academy showing you how to make a beautiful Confetti Bubble Cake with gelatine bubbles!

Materials used

Gelatine.  These Dr Oetker sachets are so handy as you can use exactly what you need.

Acetate.  Make sure the acetate you use is food grade. We love this acetate on a roll

Crisco/Trex.  Depending on where you are in the world Trex or Crisco will be readily available.

Spoon.  A regular kitchen spoon is all you need for this project.

Top Tips

  • Don't forget to wash the bowl out after you use it so it doesn't set too hard!
  • You can colour it with different paste colours, you can even add edible lustre of glitter. 
  • You can make flowers with gelatine too!
  • Make sure you leave enough time for the gelatine shards to dry, they can take 24-48 hours depending on how thick the gelatine is.
